The World Backgammon Federation (WBGF) and the World Backgammon Internet Federation (WBIF) are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive backgammon community for players everywhere. Our mission is to bring people together through the joy and challenge of the game.

After careful consideration, and recognizing that conflicts exist in many parts of the world but are not addressed consistently, both WBGF and WBIF Boards have concluded that the best way forward is to keep politics out of backgammon.

With this in mind, and with immediate effect, Russian players and teams are once again welcome to participate under their national flag in both live and online events.

This decision reflects our belief that backgammon unites people across borders, and that skill, friendship, and fair play should always come first.
